Ok as stated in a post I recently started: I bought a parts truck. 96 f150 2wd 5.0. I have a 93 5.0 4x4.
The truck has a brand new magnaflow exhaust just below manifolds to muffler. Sensor in different spot..I'm told it has two cats and my f150 has one.
A magnaflow těch told me in my picture, the first part where two come together is a cat, and so is the one further back.
Now what about stock? My 93 has a heatshield where two come together then an oval can about a foot away...
Am I being told the wrong stuff? I was hoping to just move the senor bung to the 1" cross bar, like my stock pipe but if there are more design dissimilarities, I don't think I want to proceed.
Your 93, if stock, should have two cats. The heatshield is covering one of them. The O2 sensor must go before the first cat on your truck (at the Y) as it only has the one O2 sensor. The 96 will be OBD2 and will have more O2 sensors.
To get that to work you will need to put an O2 bung right where it comes together and plug the one between the two. You will also have to figure out what to do with your smog pump tube - most aftermarket cats don't need it.
Ok. Back to the original idea then! Yeah my system is stock on the 93. I already had planned to install a o2 bung near would the 93's is. Think that small cross tube is good enough? As far as the new exhaust, it does have a air tube hole. It might be further or closer away but I can add some heat resistant tubing to continue to use it, or just plug both the tube and pipe port?
Other than that, shouldn't run into any problems on how she runs or with emissions?
Aftermarket. Looks to have been made that way. Same thing you're planning, I see that all the time.
I think you just have to make sure the ends of your little pipe are actually open.
