I really like my magnaflow. But I haven't had a flowmaster before either. I had a magnaflow on my ranger, on a 96 civic (it was on when I got it), and now on my 95 f150 with the 5.8L. Mufflers give a good low rumble, I personally think they sound better than straight piped exhaust systems

Naw, but i have heard 5.8 on person and a 5.0 in person. I personally can't tell a difference between the two with flows. They both sound quiet the same.

as a 5.8 owner i also have stock manifolds and 1 cat with 1 single chamber flowmaster. sounds ok at idle but when you stomp it that comes alive and sounds like a race car.

Flowmaster sounds nice, but if you don't have someone jet hot it before it's installed, they rot. I had an aluminized cat back setup for around $500 and 4 years later it was a pile of rot that had to be replaced. My magnaflow sounds great and is stainless, so it should last for quite some time...
