excessive idle

excessive idle

I have 96 f150 5 litre 5 speed . Idle stays up between gears while shifting but comes down as soon as wheels stops turning. What can cause this?

I'd check your throttle position sensor and your idle air control valve. And possibly clean the blades on your throttle body.

Could also be a vacuum leak
