Default Estimated cost of replacing an oil gasket on a 1992 f-150 2wd strait 6

Estimated cost of replacing an oil gasket on a 1992 f-150 2wd strait 6........Anyone out there know about the going rate for replasing the oil pan gasket on my truck? I'm thinking about taking it to a Ford dealer because of the seriousness of the matter. I've heard that 300-400
$ is the going rate. I'm in the Houston Texas area so any info you may have on local mechanics and Ford dealers would be helpfull.

Thats a pretty easy job. I would consider doing it yourself.

The oil gasket is a pretty easy job. Not sure how much they would try to get from you to do it.

Can someone tell me how much work this is? My roomates truck needs the gasket replaced. It's the inline 6 btw. It looks like we can just drop the pan and replace the gasket. Or do we need to lift the motor a bit? Any tips or tricks I should know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I did this last year on my 5.8L 351. I had to take off the top intake manifold to make room. Take out the engine mount bolts. Take out the bolts for the cross member that the trany is bolted to. Used a cherry picker to lift the engine 3". That will give you enough room to change the gasket. You can even take the pan out if you need to replace it. You just need long wreches to drop the oil pump. Your looking at a few hours of work but it will save you a lot of money not taking it to the shop.
