Erratic Idle and low power problem
Hi all.
So I have finally fixed my transmission leak and the truck is running much better. I can even drive it around but i still have some problems.
So when I start up my truck it sometimes takes one or two times to finally get it started. Once it's started I hear a very high pitched Squealing noise (I don't think its the belt). The idle is just really erratic and if I shift to Drive or Reverse it will Stall out or come very close to it. Once I take it around the block a few times and warm up the engine it runs much better. It still is very weak and putting the gas pedal all the way down it still doesn't want to accelerate very fast.
Codes I pulled
KOEO - 654
CO - 452, 634
I have replaced the spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, oil and filter, trans fluid and filter, and did a cleanse on the cooling system.
I plan to get the VCC and fix it tomorrow and i have the change the MLP to fix the two codes.
So my main question is will doing this fix the weak engine? (I'm guessing not)
Do you think that it could be the fuel pump?
Please help me because I really want to get this truck running completely!
The truck is a 1993 with a 4.9 straight 6

Have you tested the fuel pressure? You can typically rent a fuel pressure gauge from one of the big box auto parts stores for just a deposit that is refunded when you return the gauge. It would be worth a short before going too far down other paths.
Here's a link to instructions for testing the fuel pump: http://troubleshootmyvehicle.com/for...he-fuel-pump-1

Also, have you checked the IAC and throttle body gasket? There was just a thread about this (copied below). I would check the gasket first. If it's in good shape then reinstall the throttle body, fire it up, and see if pulling the plug on the IAC fixes the problem. If so, that points to the IAC as the problem, BUT its also worth checking the IAC resistance to see if the controller itself is the problem. I spent a while chasing down valve/sensor problems a while back and it ended up being the ECU that was the problem.

Give those a shot and let us know how it goes.

I have cleaned the IAC multiple times and the gasket is good. I’ve only tested the resistance of it and it was at 11 if I remember correctly. I will test the fuel pressure and get back to you. I will also test the voltage
