Default engine surges under 50 mph

had problems with my 90 4.9 engine starting lately so i ran the codes and got a 32 which said egr. i knew something was wrong with the egr years ago because the vacuum line would pop off. i checked the egr with a vacuum pump and it held vacuum so i finally put a hose clamp on it. a friend whos a mech told me the egr was leaking pressure and causing the vacuum line to pop off and with the codes yesterday i went ahead and replaced it. now i have code 11 which says in the book that everything is good but while cruising under 50 - 55 mph it feels like its surging. i checked the codes again and got a 11. i did find out that if i take it out of overdrive it rubs great, its a automatic with elect. overdrive. i cant find any info on this problem. i have checked all the wire connections and vacuum hoses and dont find anything wrong. and ideas on this problem.

What happens if you try to accelerate on 50-55 mph staying in OD?

Manual lever position indicator, being an automatic, are you talking about the PRNDL indicator? If so, take off the steering column cover and you will see the adjuster. Its either a wheel or the clamping thing has to be loosened. Put lever in neutral and adjust there, recheck in all gears.

mines called a manual lever position sensor and its located on the transmission. like the old mustangs. problem is that it says i need a special tool to line it up, not like the old mustangs where you simply used a drill bit. heard of some one making the tool but cant find a picture of it or how he did it.
