what 302 motor can i put in my 1993 ford f150 4x4? and does it have to be the same year engine or can i put a newer year in?

 

ALL 302 and 5.0L engines have the same holes, same locations, to mount them onto the frame of the truck. Biggest differences are between 5.0L HO
engines, as used in Mustangs and some Lincolns, and 5.0L as used in trucks.

HO (High Output) engines used a different firing order, and had roller tappet camshafts with steel distributor drive gears. It is best to stay away from the HO, as many headaches can develop: they used higher capacity fuel injectors, and had computers unique to themselves only.

So, basically, any 302 block or 5.0L block will work and fit. You just have to use the intake manifolds designed for your particular application. So, if you pick up a replacement engine, and it is NOT 5.0L HO, use any of the stuff off your old engine which looks different than the stuff on the replacement: manifolds, water pump, etc. imp

 

You do know that 1994+ F150's and Bronco's got the 302 H.O. engine right?

They used the 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 firing order, same as the 351w, they used a Truck ECM, had roller cam shafts and lifters and were used all the way up to the 1996 Model Year. Roller Cam, H.O. is the way to go!
