Default electrical starting problem

I turn the key and get a clunk at the syleniod. Then, everything goes dead for a minute. No lights, radio nothing. A minute later I get lights and radio but, the radio is not set to previous settings. Like the battery was disconnected. I replaced sylenoid and tried to jump it. still the same problem. One loud click at the sylenoid then dead... I can hear slight clicking at the battery when I put my ear to it, so I disconnected the neg cable fearing a dead short. But I dont see or smell anything burning. Its a great truck. No jury rigging done to this thing. Where do I start to look? Starter?
