Default egr valve

when i drive the truck and the engine warms up sometimes it will have a high idle until i turn it off and start it again. i replaced the iac. i was thinking it was the egr sticking. i was going to remove the vac line and run it with it off to see if it happens again. will this hurt anything?

just plug the vac line, i'm running mine with the egr removed and a plate on the intake and a pipe plug in the exhaust. runs pretty good, but i know if i put the egr back on i'll prolly do a bit better fuel wise.

Error code scans. Less guessing.

i took the vac off the egr and no change. i replaced the map and it seems to be running good, except a little shudder at low speeds around 25. since i replaced the map do i need to unhook the batt for the computer to relearn everything?

Wouldn't hurt.

Then put some miles on it (50 or so) & check again. Not sure you're done fixing stuff just yet. See if drivability issue improves. If still there & no codes, we'll look at component's that don't trigger error codes & procedures that may help.

Also, there is no function for the EGR valve at idle, other than to stay closed, sit there & look pretty till RPM is increased.
