if you take off the Oil filter... that mount that screws in the block.... its the same thing but there is a spring and check ball in the inside...

I had the Ford link and picture but a hard drive failure took care of that

Did Ford ever install these in the engines as factory-built? Seeing as how this part bears a 1984 part#, I would like to think they just spec'd that as part of the standard engine build at some time after that.

Regardless, the anti-drain valve built into all modern oil filters should eliminate the need for this valve, though I realize they can and do fail.

Some filters are better than others. Bosch Mileage plus work great, problem solved
