My 93 5.0 will die when I put in it drive or reverse. It only does this when the overdrive light on the shifter os off. Not sure what would be causing this. Any help is appreciated!

 

The things that come to mind are: 1) Transmission filter fell into the pan (there's an aftermarket clip to prevent this) which makes the engine stall. 2) TPS might be above 1v or otherwise defective and 3) Possibly the MLPS is bad.

Check for codes and check your vacuum hoses before replacing anything, though.

 

I checked the vacuum lines, those are good. I'll check the the filter and MLPS when I can. Thanks!!

 

did you pull any codes? does sound like a possible mlps

 

I can't pull codes currently, due to school and the fact my truck is at my aunt's house right now. But I will pull codes asap.
