E4OD delay in drive
I have searched and searched but found nothing but speculation about clutch slippage. My truck runs and drive great. No hard shift into reverse or any gear for that matter. Very smooth shifts and plenty of tire burning power.
However, there is a delayed shift into reverse when its cold. Sometimes it will take 5 seconds and shift on its own, sometimes i have to tap the pedal to get it to shift into drive. Once its shifted, truck will coast and drive fine.
Im making a new thread because im confident there is a fix for this....??? Fluid level is fine, bright clean red.

Talk to "Mark Kovalsky"... He's one of the former Transmission designer ect.. for Ford....Just make a new post on the link I posted below...It may take a day or 2 for him to answer.

So the problem is its delaying going into gear, and your sure its not in gear and slipping? There maybe something restricting fluid flow in the valve body that engages drive. I believe reverse takes the most fluid to engage, and if it engages fine then I would assume the pump is fine and the filter is properly attached and not clogged. But Checking may not be a bad idea. Just trying to get ideas flowing.
Also, What happens if you immediately wiggle your selector when it isn't engaging? Maybe your mlps is slightly out of adjustment but riding the fine line of telling the transmission to engage and not. Again, just throwing around thoughts.
