Default e303 cam?

I have been hearing alot about this e303 cam people put into their 5.0l stangs or pickups, and its kind of sparked up my interest.

Im wondering can you buy the cam, put it into a stock 5.0l and go? or is there any other upgrades you have to do aswell? what kind of power gain are you looking at? where would be a legit site to order one from? pretty much any info on em would be nice

well it's from ford racing so thats where I'd start looking.
If your running a speed density setup expect to lose the drivability.
I had it in my stang and I had to keep my foot on the gas after a cold start till it warmed up then everything was good.
On it's own it's just a nice lumpy cam. with heads and an intake it'll make you some power.

its not just a drop in and go cam if thats what you mean....to get the most from it you will at the minimum need to tune the ECM to work well with it...depending what system you have other things may need tweaked too...

If you still have the speed density setup forget about it! its very tough to get it idling and running good, we are still working out the quirks in my dads 93 F150 that he just put the E303 in.

It was a cam developed by Ford for the mustang back in the late 80's- early 90's. Overall I don't think its a good cam for a truck because of the lobe separation and duration its all top end power, Mustangs actually lost torque but gained HP with it.

When I was working as a sales rep for Jasper Engines, I had them build a 5.8 built for my 95 F150 and used a E303 cam. Had to use different valve springs per the Ford Motorsports guy, and a 160 degree thermostat. I just sold the truck with over 200,000 miles on that engine (451,000 total). I felt no loss at the low end and incredible difference in mid-range and top end. It was actually kind of a pain to drive in the rain as you could break the 32x11.50R15 BFG AT KO loose if you stepped on it too hard while passing someone on a two lane highway. It was also great pulling a 4 place snowmobile trailer, or my tandem axle trailer with my mastercraft. I also had a full dual (no cats) and a K&N filter. I had no driveability problems.

I now have a stock 5.4 in my current truck and really miss the performance of my 5.8.
