There's different ways of doing it. Some use a sensor screwed into the block, some use a sensor that you put in the radiator, there are probably other ways too.

use the one that goes into the radiator its less accurate but less work and gets the job done nice, as far as another car that works nice is a 94 cougar it has a huge fan and pulls like nothing Ive ever seen before plus it has a low and a high speed and the stock shroud from the cougar covers the whole truck radiator

How much of an increase in mpg have yall seen from the electric fans, im kind of weary to do this, seems like its just another electrical p.o.s waiting to break on me as soon as i get down the road,

How does it help if it is just taking more strain on the battery/alternator/engine? Can someone please explain???

Its more strain on the battery perhaps, but its much less strain on the engine which is what increases the mpgs.

I like the idea because my fan clutch is always breaking and the fan is stuck on. So it takes the truck longer to heat up, but then the fan doesn't spin as fast as it should, so in the summer it overheats. I'm more electrical than mechanical, so I guess that's why I love this upgrade so much.

Be glad it broke that way....

I've seen the after math of a clutch fan that came off! Went right through the radiator and several other important components under the hood!

I'm ditching my clutch fan as soon as the weather breaks (I just got a fresh 4" of snow today )

Get one from a 302 Thunderbird (91-93), they are the biggest fans Ford made.
