Question Drivers Side Cab Mount Rusted..

Hi,

Would it be possible to fix this rusted out front cab mount with a might welder & sheet metal?
This truck is just a beater truck by I don't want it falling apart on me going down the road.

Looks like the whole mount box is gone. I'll try and post a pic of what's supposed to be there.

See how there's a whole box in front of the firewall an under the floorpan. You could fabricate something and fit it in with bolts and then weld it up, but she'll be a bit of a job. At least it looks like you've got some floor left to attach it to.

Is there any pre fab parts or just have to make customs pieces of sheet metal?

You could try looking through LMC parts - they might sell it. Otherwise I'd think you'll be fabbing something up.

K, is it the cab corner or box if they have em? Also, would a cheap mig welder be suitable for this repair?

No, it's a front cab mount. Cab corner is the bottom rear corner of the cab and the box is where the load of dirt goes.
A mig welder would work if you're used to using it otherwise you just burn holes through the metal. I'd be tempted to use panel adhesive and a bunch of bolts and washers.

Looked that up. It's actually called a front cab mount support. Try putting in part # 498848 or 49. It says for 80 to 86 but it should work fine. Even if you have to modify anything, it'll fit better than anything you can probably make.

Is this it? If so, would it be best to peel back the carpet and the floor pan for rot/rust, then dive into the cab support area? Does this part go under the floor pan?

That would be it. There'll be a left hand or right hand (sitting in the driver's seat).
You can see how it would be hard to prefab yourself.
Yes, peel back your carpet, clean up any rust. You can lay a little fiberglas over it if the rust is real bad.
Use a little grinder underneath to get all the bits of the old mount out of the way. Get some panel adhesive(or even windshield urethane) to attach it, fit it in place, bolt it down, let the cab weight back down on it, then drill some holes (8 - 10) and bolt it down good. 3/8 " bolts would be good.
You could get fancier and weld it up real pretty if you're real good with your welder, but you did say it's just a beater I think.

K cool beans. I do appreciated the help and cant wait to get started. I didn't think that any adhesive would work, is Eastwood the better brand to buy?
