Default Door Panels?

I removed one of the door panels so that i could get to the inner workings of the locking mechanisms on my 94 f150 xlt, and realized how big and bulky the panel actually is, especially with the storage areas. Has anyone ever custom made thinner less cluttered panels? I'm thinking of maybe using some type of wood paneling, but thats just an idea...The surface of the inside door is pretty flat and i would only have to remount the power lock and window switches, and the light....any suggestions?

hmm... lol. but if you did go about this idea, i would go with a thin sheet metal, or diamond plate, or something along those lines, not wood. but i personally dont see anything wrong with the stock door panels myself. lol

Thanks, i dont know why i didnt think of diamond plate..thats a good idea. the thing is, my left knee is always digging into the area of the power window/lock button. and i never put stuff into the pockets on the panels, and their not in the best shape. I think i'll try the plating and throw up some before and after pics.
