Default Door Handles

Does anyone else have problems with the inside door handles in these trucks getting stiff both our 150 and 250 has had their broken off. Anyone know what causes this and what can be done?

when you lift up on the door handle from the inside of the truck (when your getting out), raise the handle and open the door.... once the door is already open, ease the handle back down.... the springs on the handles are very strong, and if you open the door, and quickly let go of the handle, it'll fling down so hard that it'll brake the handle... i also heard that the aftermarket handles that you would buy from a parts store are crap.... i figured it was all the same stuff, but i guess not

where the door handle is bolted to the door is a real thin piece of metal and it breaks real easy, when it brakes the handle gets real loose and you have to pull the handle all the way up for it to unlatch, mine did the same thing went through 2 or 3 handles a week, i put a big washer on the bottom side of it with a bigger bolt fixed it right up.

I had the same issue on my truck...not even 90,000 miles and the drivers side ripped all the way thru...I actually cut a strip of metal out of a metal barrel top 3inches wide buy 6 inches long and reinforced the whole thing...

I bent it into a Z shape to fit the contour of the cheesy metal door metal...I riveted it in the place and i also drilled another hole in the latch so it bolts down with 2 bolts....

my thinking is that the latch doesnt have enough grease on it...I used wheel bearing grease and rubbed alot of grease on the pivot points and the spring ends....

after the greasing job my doors open like butter....I actually broke the latch handle on the drivers door getting out once and I bought the replacement at Advance Auto for 8.99 and it works just as good...

I added the extra bolt and grease to the passenger side as it was noticeably stiffer to open after I greased the drivers side...it had already started to rip the metal...I figured when it gets warmer I will pull the panel and rivet extra metal in just like I did the drivers side...
