Distributor replacement
Is one manufacturer mor recommended over another.
if I go with what I can get locally,
my choices are with NAPA, whatever may come from Oreilly, advance auto, or Autozone.
the later I rarely frequent.
does it really matter.

I put a new one in some 10 years ago and it's worked fine. I honestly don't remember where I got it, but if I had to guess I would say AutoZone. I like the Duralast stuff. It was also closer than the other stores. Do yourself a favor and buy new. Went to AutoZone for a starter and the remanufactured ones tested bad, the new ones worked fine.
Stay away from the zone if at all possible. You will get a lifetime warranty and will need it.
Buy Motorcraft if it is an option. It will likely cost more.
If the OEM distributor still works leave it alone.

If you plan to keep & drive the truck, it matters. Buy why are you looking for one? What exactly is wrong with the current distributor? Is it original or a replacement? You should put ALL the truck's details & history into your signature as this page explains:
