Default Distributor Gears Keep Breaking

The truck is a 1992 F150 4x4 with auto transmission and 5.8 v8. The distributor gears broke. Replaced the distributor and it broke again. Any idea what is causing this?

just how is it breaking it the gear loosing teeth, or is the pin shearing.
You replaced the distributor, did you replace the nylon drive gear with a bronze one?

The first time was the pin and the second time was the gear teeth.

It has to be a bronze gear. Your motor is a roller motor. A steel gear will not work. Make sure the distributor spins free too.

pull the distributor and take a light to check to make sure the end of the cam is not screwed up.
