Default Difficultly of swapping from small to big mirrors?

Has anyone done this? I have the small mirrors and want to switch over to the bigger towing style mirrors. Is this even possible?

I want to go from this(neither of these are my trucks, just for reference):

It'll require some drilling into the door, unless you go switch with a truck that has those mirrors already on it

Do the bolt holes up top line up from the small to big mirrors?

If I had to guess, I'd say no based on the pictures I've seen. If you take some pictures of where yours mounts, I can take some pictures of mine and we can compare

Only one hole lines up and use self tappers on the bottom mount that's what I did. And make sure you use ford ones. Aftermarket ones are super hard to see put if on the passenger side because they aren't slightly domed.

Default Mirror Swap

I have a 91 XLT with the big mirrors (Passenger Side Broken)
and I have been looking into doing just the opposite. Swapping for the 93 up smaller mirrors- The upper holes do not line up and the smaller mirror has a square hole punched through the door skin for the inner support to fit through - The mirror attached also to the inner skin of the door for support.
From the factory the upper mounts are welded nuts and a doubler that is part of the door skin. the lower attachment is a pair of LARGE Steel RivNnts crimped to the outer door skin. It would not be had to do the swap. I have the passenger Side mirror off and the inside door panel - I'll take a couple of pics and post in the next few days.
