Default Different tensioner????

My belt tensioner is going bad. So I hit my local Napa for a replacement. They sold me a Gates made one that the pulley is too wide and the pulley diameter is too big. Called around and that same Gates assembly is the one everyone carries. Only Rockauto has the original Motorcraft tensioner.
Why is there so much difference between these two tensioners? My truck takes a narrow belt. Just curious which trucks take the wide one.

My new tensioner Philly is wider than my belt. It will work fine. My pulley was the same diameter as my factory one.
