Default Difference between FUEL PUMPS

What is the difference between F6TZ-9A407-AA and F6TZ-9A407-AB???? They both are the same part and I know that the AB is the newer one but is there a physical difference?????

I know its the replacement but what purpose does it serve??? Just to let you know you are on your second pump? Or does it have a different electrical connector?

If I remember the Ford part number scheme of things, the second letter in the suffix denotes the place of manufacture, which could mean Ford changed vendors for what ever reason.

If I'm thinking right the suffix letter is used for compatibility purposes.

The first time the part was manufactured, "A" was assigned as the suffix. For the first revision, "B" was used as the suffix, then "C" for second revision and so on. It continues through the alphabet as the design changes.

So the "AB" pump is the first revision of the original design.

o ok gotcha! So you would buy an AA pump if you could get it for a good price? I just thought the AA pump could be very old as far as the date it was actually made.
