Default Difference between 1992 and 1996 fuel pump/delivery/tank switching?

I used to have a 1992 F150 with the 4.9 liter motor, both tanks were junk when I got the truck, put new tank and pump in the front and used that one only until I sold the track a year later. As I remember (and I may be wrong) those were high pressure fuel pumps and the switch turned on power to one pump or the other. I have an opportunity to get an old 1996 F150 with the 5.8? liter motor in it and has questionable fuel tank/pump condition. Seller says he had problems in past, took to local guy who says the truck has a low pressure pump in each tank and then a seperate high pressure pump that both tanks feed into, and some part of all this was scavenged off an older model F150 and it's all hacked up. I haven't looked it over carefully yet, but thought I'd ask about the fuel pump and delivery set up for a '96 before I go look at the truck. Please help.
