Default Did I get the wrong timing cover?

Rebuilding an 89 302. Got this cover from autozone. Part #635-100. The bottom of the cover does not line up with the block. About 1/8" difference. I'm sure I should replace it but would anyone recommend slapping extra sealant on? Or does anyone know the correct part number?

Maybe not wrong part # but that will definitely not work. I've had poor experience with parts from autozone not fitting. Mostly water pumps and ball joints.
I would take it back and get one from a NAPA if you can

Good catch with seeing that it doesn't fit. I had an experience with an oil pan being too small.

I think you got a defective part. I would try picking up that timing cover from a different store. It looks like Dorman has the market on that part, so I'd try it from a different store.

Timing cover is a piece of crap. You need a better one - especially considering the money you just obviously spent on that motor.
Just going to let the block get that fancy rust patina, or throw a little paint at it ?

Autozone refunded me with no questions. Went to Napa and got the right one. Got get oil pan on and everything fits together real nice. I've been thinking about paint. I will probably end up putting some on.
