Default Decision Help

Hey I'm new to the forum so let me know if this is in the wrong section, lol. I have been presented with the opportunity to buy a 93 5.8l F-150 in pretty good condition, and I'm not sure whether I should take up that offer or not. Right now I drive a 2002 Ford Explorer and it's not bad but I'd just rather have a truck, but I am headed off to college here in a month and just not sure if that's the best decision for me right now. I can afford one or the other but not both, and I know it may be kind of a biased option coming from an F-150 forum but just some insight on what you think would be best would help. Thanks!

condition condition condition....

too early in the game to let your wants get ahead of your needs.

Which one is likely to be more reliable, require less maintenance and so on.

You will be swamped with school stuff, no need to have the added stress or headache.

YMMV

having no car payments and no student loans was a nice way to start adulthood. granted i had scholarships to help with the no student loan part. and worked to pay the rest when i was in collage.

keep the explorer till the bills are paid and you can splurge a lil in life.

"too early in the game to let your wants get ahead of your needs." is an excellent way of putting it kd3pc

Do good in school and you'll be able to buy a 'new' 2021 F-150

That 351 is a big engine and gets close to single digit mpg. If you have limited gas money that will be a factor to keep in mind.

If the 2002 explorer is in good shape, keep it and buy a project truck later on in life.

Explorers are good. And you already know what is / isn't wrong with it.
