Default Creative dvd ideas...

Hey I'm looking for some creative in dash DVD player ideas. I have a 1990 so reg cab f150. Obviously one would fit, however when it would open it would have to be at a weird angle because of the air controllers. Any ideas?

I haven't been on here long enough to see if there's been something similar done but I was just in there putting a cd player in. If you pull off the trim around the HVAC controls and Radio, it looked to me you could possibly swap them. Put HVAC on bottom and install a flip up on top. This is subject to not being possible because I didn't remove the controls and see if they are long enough or would fit, physically, down below. Also the 4 mounting tabs are different on both but that's kind of minor.

Maybe someones done it or seen pics of it done and could chime in. My passing thoughts on it seemed not that far fetched to do.

Ya that's a good idea, but I can see where the cables could be too short. Maybe I'll pop it off and take a peek worse case couldn't I splice the controls to lengthen the wires?

Again, didn't look back there but there might be hoses for the controls that move the direction of air. Sounds like its vacuum controlled. No extending those lines but I doubt they wouldn't be long enough. Main concern is if had to reroute them around something to get them down below.

As far anything electrical, no reason and all you can't splice them. It could be a pita with having to do it inside the dash, but doable.

I would definitely check the ability to physically fit it and if anything un-splicable can be moved down. Also if the depth is there for something to fit on top. Last would be that the player can stay stable in the new spot. The current radio has a rail (of sorts) above it that the radio slides down to support it in the back. I do not believe this is a problem though as 4 bolts should hold it pretty good. Lastly, will a flip out stick out past the trim peace? I thought it stuck out good inch around the whole top part. So can't say for certain if it'll slide out and flip up and be far enough infront of the trim.

All it comes down to is just checking on all the unchangeable things on this check list. Can vacuum lines reach, stability, flip out not blocked, etc. If one of these doesn't work out then it don't think should try it.

Wish I could give more certain answers but haven't poked my nose back there much! It crossed my mine on even a double din player, but that's gonna be too custom for me, and probably look way out of place.
