Default Crank No Start Issue

Hey all,

I offered to help a friend get his new to him truck up and running, as it cranks but does not start. It's a 1989 F150 XLT Lariat with the 5L V8. It was sitting for 3 years. Here's what I have done thus far:
  • Checked for spark, which I have.
  • Checked the fuel pressure at the Schroeder valve and it's reading 40 psi, so we have good fuel pressure.
  • Replaced the distributor cap. There was a tip from an old broken rotor in there that was causing melting and loud buzzing sounds. Took that out and it works great.
  • I took the hoses off from the throttle body and sprayed cleaner in there while my friend cranked and pressed the gas. Fired right up and ran smoothly until I stopped spraying.
  • Checked for power at the injectors and they're getting battery voltage.
  • This has me thinking that the injectors may need servicing, or perhaps I am missing something else?
  • The service records indicated that before it sat, they used injector cleaner at every oil change interval. Was thinking this was just an add-on thing that they included everytime.
Any other ideas as to what could be causing this issue? Or an easy way to check the injectors without having to take the intake manifold off? Injectors look original, and all of the electrical connector clips have broken off, so they're just sitting on the injector and not secured. I'm also thinking that there may be a grounding issue with the injectors. Seems very unlikely that all injectors would be faulty. If it may be a grounding issue, any ideas of where I should be checking those connections? Open to ideas!

Thanks.

I had a similar issue where I had both spark and fuel and it would crank but not start. to check the injectors, you could take a mechanic stethoscope and set the tip on the side of the injector while someone cranks it, and if you hear it clicking it indicates that the injectors work. the reason mine wasn't starting was because the spark plugs where not plugged in correctly on the distributor cap. they were in the correct order, but rotated 1 space, so you could check that. that's all I can contribute, good luck!
