Default cooling problem

i dont understand it

1985 f150

problem
i put a new radiator(be cool) from summit new 195 degree stat when you first start it and drive it will over heat turn it off hoses are pressurized bleed the air out start it again stays cool all day long, it fills the overflow tank to where its over flowing does it every day . so every day i start my truck i have to bleed the air out of it before i can drive it.

any suggestions i been through 5 stats already brand new and about 15 gallons of antifreeze

Are you buying the cheap thermostats? They suck...

With the truck running - as it gets to temp and pressurizes the upper hose - are you getting bubbles in the overflow tank? Could be a bad head gasket bleeding compression into the coolant.

Are the upper and lower hoses new as well? The lower hose could be collapsing.

Is there coolant coming from the water pump weep holes? It might not be working.

what he said, plus if you want to test your t-stat, put it in a pot of water and cook it, stick a thermometer in there and note what temp the water is when it opens. does your heat work?

cheap stats yes from auto zone never had a problem with with my previouse trucks

not sure on bubbles in the over flow but it fills it to wear its overflowing let the truck sit for awhile the antifreeze flows back in the radiator

upper and lower hoses are about 6 years old i never checked to see if the lower hose was colapsing or not

water pump is brand new head gaskets are brand new too

1 time when the over heating started i pulled the upper hoses when it was pressurized and there was no coolant in there but there was coolant in the radiator

the other thing is with radiator cap off let it run through the cycle right before the stat opens it pushes alot of antifreeze out and a big air bubble then drops down i do that the problems go away

Agree with alien, head gasket, it probably seals itself when the engine warms up but when it is cold its pressurizing the system. Get a cooling system pressure tester, and see if there is any leak down.

tried something a little different i still dont know what the problem is and if it is the head gasket im not changing them when its 10 degrees out side

so what i did i bought a flush tee from autozone hooked that up took the cap drilled a hole on top of it and stuck a boiler air vent on it i just got done doing that i started it up no over heat drove it around for awhile no over heat so far so good ill test it out more next week see if it holds up for the mean time till its warm again

if anyone cares for this kind of info ill let ya know how it goes if not thanks for all your

ohh and there is still bubbles in the overflow tank all the time but it stopped overflowing
