Default Cooling?

Hello group-and thanks for the replies earlier-I had the truck ( 95 F15 5.8 auto 2wd) run on the machine-replaced EGR and EGR pos sensor am waiting for code reader, but will replace O2 sensor and TPS ( if needed).
Had to run a 40 mi short trip last night- I noticed running hot other day and replaced T-stat( stock 192 deg)-think I need water pump and flush though..my gauge runs straight up and down-or between the "r" and "m" on the "normal" range-LOl where do your trucks run temp wise( I really need an aftermarket gauge).

mine's more in the O-R range, I have a 4.9 auto 2wd... I don't think you're too hot. Usually water pumps only need doing if they're leaking or making lots of noise or otherwise show any signs of failure.

Thank you-with no real point of reference-I thought it was getting over my comfort zone. While replacing the T-stat ( clogged with crap , of course) I noticed corrosion-I have seen before where corrosion eats the impeller blades of the water pump-no kidding. Still, I have plenty of other issues to address. I think I will flush with water, then flush with chemical-pump ,lower hose , belt new coolant-maybe Redline Water Wetter.
Thanks for the forum and all the info-it really helps.
