Default Computer issues

I was wondering if any of you guys have ever had or heard of the computer going bad on these trucks. I have an 87 f150 with the 5.0 and I had one go bad awhile back. Mechanic I get advice from said that he had only seen a couple others in his 20 yrs and hes a ford guy.

And I dont know how much different my computer is since I dont think you can pull codes on an 87. Or maybe that has nothing to do with it. Just interested to hear from others on the forum.
