Hi there, can anyone tell how i can get a computer or code reader to check the codes on my 1996 F150 and if so how do i properly use one? Muchly appreciated!

If you do buy a scanner buy one thats CAN compatable and gives the deffintion of the code,some of the cheap ones only give you the code number.

i got my code reader and tried it on the truck but says the code reader is not connected. i tried it on my other vehicle and it read the codes fine. i think the plug under the dash is not hooked up. is there anywhere else i can hook it up (maybe the computer itself???) any suggetions?
