Default is this common

I have a 1995 ford f150 with a 5.0 engine. Runs great. However when I step on the gas the air conditioning or heat stops coming out of the vents and comes through the defroster area then when I ease up on gas it returns to vents.

Anyone have answer and or how do I fix it?

Sounds like a vacuum issue.
Truck should run even better when you get that fixed.
