Cold engine dies when driving
Morning all,
Well, we've had a couple of cool mornings (mid 50's) and I've had a problem with my truck the past couple of days. I can get it started just fine, it will run in high idle fine, but when I put it into gear it will either die right away, or soon after I start driving.
Once I get the truck started again, and drive a 1/2 to 1 mile it will be just fine.
My truck is an '87 F150 XLT Supercab w/5.8L carburated engine. A coworker said it sounds like a choke problem, like I'm not letting the engine warm up enough before trying to drive.
Any thoughts on what to check, look at or do to try to fix the problem will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ryan

OK, this morning I let the engine idle until the choke came off after hitting the gas. While the engine didn't die this morning, is sure acted like it wanted to.
The truck is also hard to start in the morning. I also notice a slight lag in response from pressing the accelerator and the engine reacting. Is this a normal carburetor thing or something else?
Thanks
