Default Cold box air idea

There are so many threads about cold air boxes, I started taking a hard look under my 91 hood and I think I will building my own box but I want to add a scoop directly over the box. The box will be moved back and a little more to the center to take advantage of a large hood area with no supports. Now for the creative part, back in the early 70s Chrysler had a ram air scoop that opened under hard acceleration, I would use a servo switched by intake pressure to operate the scoop. Or maybe a simple NACA duct. Ideas are greatly appreciated

in my opinion, all that work will not be worth the added gains, but just my opinion. I am talking gains of cone filter vs. cone filter w/ hood scoop, not stock vs your proposed setup.

The stock air inlet is a narrow plastic slot that is blocked by the hood and takes a crazy route to the air box. The total inlet area of the scoop I am thinking about really isn't sufficient to get a true ram effect (unless you were doing crazy speeds) and I don't know the efficiency of the NACA but either setup has to be better than stock. I think I was more interested in the coolness factor anyway. I like to throw out thoughts, sometimes it gives someone the spark for something really different.

Yes I got a 91 4x4 Lariat that only had 92K from a police auction the body was solid but the paint was trashed and I am doing a mild mod, paint and radical interior change. I have a few kids from our youth group starting a car clinic and I try to do some different stuff to get their minds going in different directions than SUBS and UGLY HUGE WHEELS (just my perspective) My real project car is a 66 Mustang my dad bought new and I'm doing a coupe racer with a retro look but new components. Sorry so long!

take the slot off thats under the hood and runs to the box and just route something to the grill, put a screen over the opening to keep bugs and debris out, i'm gonna give it a shot sooner or later

here is an idea.. why not put a snorkel on the truck.. that does two thinkgs.. make it look more like a real truck and not a ricer and then it also give you a one of the most REAL cold air intakes available, doesnt get much colder than straight from the outside to the air box
