Default code retarded

Common issue, i know. So i have a 92 5.0 5spd and the check engine light comes on when the truck is warm. when you first turn the truck on, there is no light, and if you turn it off after it has been running the CEL is on, the light doesn't return for a little bit.

So i got a reader and had a friend help me. We though that we got the 3 digit code 123 for the TPS. Well we checked the tps, and it tests fine. Now we are both super confused.

Any help or suggestions? what am i doing wrong? cause i have to be doing something wrong here.

does this year even put out three digit codes?

its probably code 23 the first quick flash you don't count. from what you have described is what my truck does its due to the egr system not functioning properly.

It's my understanding that our codes are 3 digits, not two. He also said he used a code reader which gave him the code, so he's not reading a check engine light. If the TPS tests fine I would reset the eec and drive it a while and retest to see if the code has returned.

EDIT - I do see where some '92's had 2 digit codes and some had three digit codes. Can't seem to find how to identify which system it is in which truck. I would assume if the code reader is putting out a three digit code, then it probably is a three digit system. Guess I'm lost now.

Check this out - might help you.

by code reader, i mean one that gives the code with flashing lights....so there in lies a lot of my confusion.
I disconnected the battery for a while, and then took the truck for a little drive, and the light didn't come back, so i guess that i stand by and wait now.....so now to tackle the known issues LOL
