i honestly dont know why it says it wont, my manual says it works on literally every ford truck engine back to 81. iv used it on a 92 150 and a 93 mercury cougar and its worked both times just fine, ill double check my manual here in a second.

ok says it will work on the 4.9l 5.0l 5.8l 7.3l 7.5l through 91-94 (sub section in the book) you can go ask the parts counter guy there (for what its worth i guess..) and see what he says. i know there are several people on here who use the same 1.

thats where i bought mine, got it for my 250 back in June, but iv used it on other vehicles. just ask if you can return it incase it dont work (im 100% sure it will)

also, yes your truck SHOULD store the codes, but iv heard of the light coming on with no trace of a code.

I have the Equus (Innova) 3145. It's about $25 on Amazon.
Amazon Amazon

I also got the extension cable which is also $25. The cable is a bit expensive for what it is. A cable could be made for a few $.

If you have a helper then the cable is not needed. One person needs to be in the drivers seat and one needs to watch the code reader and signal the other person when to stomp on the accelerator etc. There is not enough time, (for me anyway) to run around from the engine bay to the drivers seat.

See my web site below for tutorial on how to do the self test / code reading. I show how to read codes using the test light flash method as well as with a code reader...

You can download the 3145 manual from my site as well. When looking for compatible models be sure you are reading the truck/van chart not the car chart.
