Default Code Issues

Okay, so my check engine light came on today while picking a friend up who just locked his engine up, I blame him-bad luck with vehicles.

Anyway, I pulled KOEO and got the clear codes, did the KOER and got 53 and 63. I'm guessing I need to clean some connections and check the wiring, anyone else have any idea why I would get a high and a low fault from the tps?

I recently installed a 130amp alt and about a month ago an EFan.
53
Throttle Position sensor too high – TPS
63
Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) signal too low TPS

Because it's probably bad. Check the TPS itself to find out. It should read at ~.97-.99v closed throttle and less than 4.65 (I think, Google it for sure) wide open throttl .

Well I left my interior lights on last night when I pulled the codes, completely dead. Worst part was I had to push it back (up a large bump) into the alley to back another car out of the garage to jump it, very hard on an incline and only weighing 145lbs. I think I need to invest in a good charger. Anyway I drove it for about 20 minutes just to make sure the battery charged some then pulled the codes again and just got the 11's so I'm thinking I didn't floor it far/long enough for the KOER test, still going to clean the connectors up as much as possible just in case, then test for proper voltage.

On a good note I put some new rear adjustable shocks on and am really liking them, can't wait to get my springs (824's) on Tuesday so I can do the front shocks-got some monroe sensatracs with coil over shock.

Made a lowes run yesterday, cel came on, pulled codes got o2 (72) along with the 53 & 63 I got previously. I had replaced the o2 sensor about 4-6 months ago so I was assuming it's good, got down and checked the connector and it's just covered in muck, cleaned both ends, as well as the TPS connector, which is a real PITA to unhook without taking anything else off (got it after removing the air filter hoses). The TPS pins were covered in green corrosion, soaked it with QDEC and hooked it back up. Went for a drive through the country and no cel, pulled codes when I got back and just the clear codes (11). I'm happy, already ordered a motorcraft TPS because I found an awesome deal so I guess I'll just save it until I need it or have to pull the TB for any reason.

It's nice when it's an easy fix. Knowing how to fix it helps - we all know what that would have cost at the garage (too much)
