Default Clutch Replacement Costs

Anybody know how much it costs to have a clutch replaced in a '92 5.0 with the m5od ? My clutch is slipping in reverse and i could smell it burning in first when i was trying to climb up a small root that was sticking out in my yard lol. Anyway mechanics around here are charging 85 an hour so i was just curious what you guys have paid before. thanks

Is it a 2wd or 4x4? That will add to the labor cost. Our shop is 82$ an hour, and I'd have to estimate that at a 4-5 hour job at most with a flywheel resurfacing.

So you are in the 330$-425$ range for labor + the cost of parts.

A buddy of mine payed da** near $1000 for his last summer. If you can, it will be a lot easier* to do it yourself. If you have the right tools it isn't the worst project ever.

*Edit: cheaper...not easier.

I have my M5r2 out at this moment doing the clutch myself. I have a little over 500 just in parts alone, but I upgraded to an 11" clutch and am using the best parts I can find and doing the rear main and a lot of seals, gaskets, etc. Also putting redline ATF back in it. It is a colossal pain in the *** but will save some $$. I can easily see it going to $1000 at some shops if you have someone else do it.

If I can offer you any advice I would say hit up southern gear or a trans specialty shop, you are going to want to upgrade those 3 rubber plugs that leak with the metal plugs and go ahead and get a shifter bushing repair kit for it!!!
