Default clutch problems

On my 96 f150 with I6 and mazda 5spd tranny, the clutch pedal gets stuck coming back up only an inch or two off the floor i just flicked it back up with my foot for a few days now it doesnt seem to be engaging the clutch at all but when i was driving there wasnt any clutch slip when you gun it or no grinding i checked fluid already and the slave seems to be moving good but the master seems like its sloppy almost like its not giving the slave enough pressure i was going to just drop the tranny and check the clutch but its 10 degrees and snowing in new york so kind of looking for a little help before i go ahead and rip it out ive just never had a clutch master cylinder go

Been a while since I've worked on a clutch system - but like that's going to stop me from giving it a go - take my advice, I'm not using it :-)~

Many times, but not always, will see a leak where the pushrod actuates the master cylinder - sometimes inside the firewall.

Figure you've got the master, slave, and pressure plate. The slave will typically leak at failure, so you may see fluid coming out around the bell housing. IIRC, pressure plate problems usually result in slippage issues.

The master is obviously the easiest of the three, since the other two require dropping the tranny.

Perhaps one of the other members more experienced will be along shortly to chime in.
