It cost me around 700 to do mine but I used FoMoCo Hydraulics, New flywheel, CF II clutch Kit, new oil pan gasket, new Poly motor mounts,Poly trans mounts, new Melling hv oil pump and new rear main seal. I did all the work.

That quote is a little high just for a basic clutch r/r...In a properly set up shop I could do it in a few hours if I didn't have to send the flywheel somewhere else to get surfaced. He should shop around...

They quoted me $590 for the master, slave, fluid, and labor. I found a few clutches online for around $100 and they said they wouldn't charge any extra labor to put it in. That's how I got to $700. I believe the labor alone was $420. Good shops around here charge $100/hr and I figure to do the whole thing should be right around 4 hrs. I will be taking y'all's advice and not using duralast parts. I will be shopping around for motorcraft stuff and just let them do the labor

When you get as old as I am you can't help but to try to save someone else from repeating your own mistakes. I have found that buying cheap parts for these old trucks is usually a waste of time and money. You're not supposed to have the truck 23 years after it rolls out of the showroom! hehe. I still run mine everyday with almost 1000 lbs in the bed and she just won't die! Too bad they stopped making the 300's...My F250 w/ 5.4l is not built nearly as tough. It has the power group and I'll be offloading her soon as i'm not gonna deal with the ridiclous electrical system when the windows start to go ...been down that road already! I cringe every time the CEL comes on because I know it's gonna be another $150 - 3 dollar sensor somewhere that you can't get to....lol.

It all depends on what you do with it too. I have to use heavy duty components because I run the old girl like she is new.

Trust me I hate the thought of throwing BS parts in anything I own. The truck has 65k original miles and is MINT so it will definitely not be taken off road or be abused but it will pull a 21ft center console a few times a year. I originally bought the truck just to beat around and use as a daily but I am quickly starting to love my truck way more than my mustang. I'm 23 and just graduated college so I don't have a ton of money to spend, but I will definitely be fixing this the right way.

Wasn't by choice...I had bought a "new" clutch kit from carquest and 1500 miles after i put it in the disc disintegrated and destroyed the flywheel....

Found out the setup was made in china and BOXED in the usa....AWESOME!!

While I had it all apart I noticed the main was gone and the pan was leaking and so i jacked up the engine and the mounts fell apart....You how it goes on a 20 year old truck! LMAO Once the pan was down i figured i might as well upgrade the oil pump...

So i just did it all so i wouldn't have to do it again. I always upgrade if I can. building Fox bodies ingrained that in me.

That's how it goes. i know it hurts to fix this stuff but the clutch is the heart of the truck...It lets go and you're parked! Some items you simply HAVE to do it correctly or it will cost you double to go back and replace. 65,000 isn't very much mileage. If you put a decent setup in it you won't have to do it again for an awful long time. I have a CFII in my Mustang and it rates at 500+ RWHP and I beat the living s@#t out of it and it has well over 40,000 on it and it grips like the day i put it in ! You get what you pay for in some cases.
