weak battery, check that you have more than 12 volts on the battery and then at the ends of those wires as they head to the solenoid and starter.

Could be bad solenoid or starter, with this info.

IF you are comfortable, you can take an old screwdriver and just short across the starter posts, which will tell you if the starter works or not

Mine just did the same thing...just a single click from the solenoid. I took the starter off. Took it to O'REILLY to test it... Shot. New starter and I was good to go. But like previously posted, check battery and grounds first.

Can you start it by jumping the two posts on the fender solenoid? If so, it's the solenoid. If not, likely the starter.

By jumping it, I mean, as suggested earlier, take a screwdriver and connect the two posts on the solenoid. Does it start?

Solenoid more than likely, you can get a new Motorcraft solenoid from oreilly for about $35, or around $20 for a non-Motorcraft part, they run about $23 from rockauto for a MC. Takes about 5 minutes to swap out.
