I can't seem to find a black replacement, http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fd/full.aspx?Page=29, that has just chrome as an option for the molding. I wouldn't say go without but you can always pull it and paint it to your liking.
Be careful pulling it - other than twisting it out of shape, you can crack your windshield. After it's off, you can just paint it flat black. Rough up the chrome with something like 240 or 320 sandpaper.

Do you want it glossy or flat? If you don't have a problem with touching it up once in a while you can use a spray paint. If you really want it to last have it sprayed by someone with a 2 part paint.
