Do power programmers for our year trucks really help at all?

 

Everything I have seen on these magical performance enhancers is they are trash. Basically they charge you $70-80 bucks for a resistor you can buy at radio Shack for about a buck...

I have personally seen a friend take his out after it actually slowed his truck by almost 2/3 of a second in the quarter, take this fairly big "chip" apart to find a tiny 3000 ohm resistor in it, and that's it... I think there are similar video's on youtube showing the same thing.

Don't buy into it, they are trash.

 

Oh okay lol I was looking at one of the $300 ones and I was kinda skeptical about it.

 

depends what you are looking for... if you have a MAF conversion then buying an Anderson Motorsports unit for 1300 is a big help. you can lean it out on the highway and make adjustments as needed.

If your just going to get a simple chip thats mail order then no I dont think it'll work but diablosport, SCT and a few other real tuners do work and can have great results or destroy your vehicle if you dont know what your doing.
