Cheapest Way to make it loud and sound good.
Hey guys i wanna make my 94 F150 5.0 loud and have a good tone to it. I removed muffler and have a straight pipe to the axle but itsnt nearly loud enough. Would gutting my second cat make a difference?

i cut my 2nd cat off and let it dump out in that 3" pipe right on the other side of the cross member. sounds like a diesel on low end and like a monster truck on the top end, i love the sound of it and i wouldn't change it

oh yeah, original manifolds and y-pipe and the first cat, i cant put long tube headers on mine cause the 5 speed and shortys are a waste of money in my mind.

I have true duals straight off stock manifolds and right before the rear axle they go into 12" glass packs and then about 4 more inches of pipe and the dump down before the axle. Loud as hell, but kinda rattles/claps when rpms are really high, but only when i mash on it and dont let it shift (bad for your truck) lol but i would suggest something like that, but then again, technically its illegal

Your going to lose some performance if you run straight pipes with no mufflers, if you run a good muffler with a descent sized pipe you'll have a little more torque plus it'll have a nice sound. If ya want tons of noise and dont care if you lose performance, put some cherry bombs on, their loud as hell and have a nice cackle to them. Personally I like to be able to hear myself think when I'm driving but thats just me.
