Default Changing the serpintine belt?

I went to the parts store and got a non-a/c belt for my 4.9l straight six. Well my goal is to remove the a/c pump. They said that it might not work because they were different lengths. But I truely thought it wolud still work. Well before I remove the ac pump well that belt work. I dont want to take it off if the belt wont be the right length. Anwser soon....lol...the truck is aprat right now......thanks

Why do you want to remove the A/C pump, don't you like air conditioning?

Most people replace the pump with another free spinning pully, this allows you to keep the orig. belt. or you can get a shorter belt (long as your sure its the right size) it should work.

I pulled it off......The belt was right. I left the ac pump on the truck and let the back side of the belt run against the pulley on the ac pump. It spins freely and doesnt hurt the belt at all...THanks for the quick replys....
