Changing out the door locks
My passenger side was missing the lock cylinder when I bought the truck and I finally got around to ordering a new set of locks for both doors.
Do the mechanisms just slide in to the hole, then turn the whole assembly to lock it it place?
How do I remove the driver's side lock?
What is the easiest way to attach the rod to the clip, I'm assuming removing the interior panel but my doors still have the vapor barrier and I would like to try and save it as it has no holes and is still 100% attached.
I've done a couple searches and could only find info on replacing the locking assembly and power lock motor. I don't know why it's hard for me to find things when I need them yet it seems easy when someone else needs help. Anyway I have power locks if that makes a diff.

Power locks do make a huge difference. I changed door and ignition lock cylinders on my 1995 a few months ago. I assume you also have the intrusion alarm? That's what got me in trouble with mine, and I had to go to an automotive body shop for help to get the job finished. Just the mechanical installation is not all that bad, but watch for the small details if the alarm is still active on yours.
The vapor barrier does have to be peeled down far enough to get to the mechanisms. Both doors are the same.
I found a complete lock set for just under $100 so only one key is needed.
Good luck.

The door panel and vapor barrier has to come off. The key lock has a clip on the back that holds the rod on the back of it. When you open the door you and look on the jam you will see a metal clip going into the door that is what holds the key cylinder in place the one that is missing the cylinder will probably not have one only the slotted hole for it to go into. Usually the key cylinders come with new clips for them.
I don't think mine has an alarm (doesn't have a key fob anyway), and thanks for the info on the metal clip, never would have thought of that. So I just hook the rod into the clip and I'm done?
Also I'm assuming that the clip on the lock goes in pointing away from the hinge, is this correct?
