Default Carbon Cleaning

What do you all know anything about Carbon Cleaning. My boss said that is what I should do about the bad mileage on the F-150

We actually call it a bg induction service. There is a cleaner run through the throttle body( some ppl go through a vacuum hose) and it cleans the carbon and crap from the throttle body, intake and off of the intake valves. Carbon dosen't build up on the exhaust valves (under normal circumstances) they are too hot. We use BG products here at my shop. I was never a big fan of all these hyped up cleaners and stuff until I used the BG. OMFG this stuff works. The other 2 cleaners can either go into the fuel tank to clean the fuel injectors or one in the tank and one through a pressurized system in the fuel rail itself.

How much should it cost nd how much time would it take? Should I buy something to do it myself?
