I tried to do the ignition timing bump with my buddies timing gun. Run the engine to operating temp, pulled out the SPOUT, loosen up the retaining bolt and tried to turn the distributor. It was stuck and would not budge. I triedPB Blaster and tapped it with a hammer with no success.
The is running at 11.5*- 12* advanced of TDC. I was hoping to bump it 13 or 14. Any thoughts on how to break it free to turn? My buddy left me his timing gun, so I am still looking to do this tune.

put a small pipe wrench as close to the bottom as you can and work it back and forth, do this for a while to get it loose. and completely pull the retaining clip and bolt.

I did a 5.0L a while back and the distributor had corroded in place. Pulled out the retaining piece and I used a small flat punch and hammer that lifted it just slightly to break it free.

Not sure if I have a flat punch. You think a big flat head screwdriver would suffice?

It could, just don't punch to deep or hit the O-ring. The one I used was thicker so I just broke it loose and was able to turn it. I also put in a small notch to reference back to stock timing is needed.
