Default Cab map lights, 91 std. cab

This is no big issue, but does anyone have an idea why the map lights beside the domelight in my '91 standard cab don't work? I replaced the bulbs with new but that's not it. The domelight itself works fine, and I'm assuming that they're on the same fuse/circuit. I LIKE map lights is all.

The p.o. stuck a Chrysler audio system in there, which I'll replace with something good, eventually, not least because the dang thing is so big it took out the ashtray space and I'd like a power plug back in there for recharging my phone while on the go, etc. Is there any chance the wiring in there is the problem?

Not sure of the solution, but they are on a different fuse from the dome light. Dome light is separate 15A which also affects the radio and the dinging noise when you open the door with the keys in. The Map light is on another circuit.

Okay, thanks. Seems kind of weird to run separate circuits up there, but what the heck, there's probably some reason that made sense when they did it. My cargo light works fine, too, whatever circuit it's on. I'll dive into some wiring diagrams, see if I can't figure it out. The headliner in my truck looks a lot newer than the rest of the interior, so maybe it's something that happened when that was done.

Your cargo light is also linked with the dome light. At least it is on my truck.

on my truck you need to have the running lights on in order for the map lights to work

Okay, this may sound stupid but.. I have a '93 F150 XLT reg. cab and my light switch has to be pulled out to at least have the parking lights on (one pull), the driver's door has to be open and my light dial has to be turned all the way to the left to have the dome light come on. So, pull your light switch out one click at least, turn it left all the way to turn the dome light on, open your driver's door, and then try your map lights. Mine is like that but of course, mine is probably weird ha ha. Let me know if it works.
