well gotta get the girlfriend off my back so I need some advice when I turn my a/c on it will blow out hot air at times and last time I tried you can hear the clutch engage and then stop and engage and then it will stop so do yall think it is just the clutch or the whole compressor that's gone out is there a way to test to see witch one is out if possible I would like to not have to spend a lot of money on replacing everything
if it is doing this repeatedly, then it is either empty of freon or the compressor is toast. I would not continue to use the AC until you get it repaired.
It won't be cheap, either way. IF you replace the compressor make sure to get the "system" that includes the pitot/orifice tube. Compressor is about $300 alone.
When I had mine repaired last summer, my shop mail ordered a setup that included everything and actually had a two year warranty, unlike the local jobber's 90 days.
There are some vendors who specialize in Ford and GM for 90's systems. And you will likely have to pay for "conversion" to the newer, more green..."freon"
all the best,
